Pets No Problem

At Horsford, we’re known for our deftness with doors, wonders with windows and craftsmanship with conservatories. But did you know that the team have quite a way with animals too?

As Mrs I remarked back in October 2020, “The two young men were friendly, very skilled, polite and my dog (usually wary of new visitors) loved them.”

The Horsford team’s affinity with dogs was also noted by Mrs W in January 2020, when she said of Lee and Matty, “My dog Fred and I will miss them.”

But it’s not only dogs that love the guys, with Barney the cat deciding to take a snooze in the Horsford van (2016), when Alex and Carl were at work in his home. We nearly gained an extra member of the team that day!

More recently (October 2022), Steve and Darren were commended by Mr and Mrs E for a skill that we never even realised that they possessed. “Steve and Darren were very helpful when catching the rabbits that escaped into the garden from next door.”

So if you’re looking for new doors, windows or a conservatory for your home – or perhaps some company for your dog, comfort for your cat or help to control wayward rabbits – just get in touch with the Horsford team on: 01603 666414. Alternatively you can email us at: sales@horsfordwindows.com

A Glass Bedroom?

It's amazing the wonderful uses that people find for their conservatories. Of course, the most popular and best known are dining areas, lounges and sun rooms but the possibilities are endless.

There's a growing trend to use a conservatory as a home study or craft room and in some cases a home gym is installed.

We've even heard reports of glass bedrooms and the conservatory being installed as an area for pets. If you've found a different, interesting use for your conservatory then we'd love to hear from you.

And of course, if don't yet have a conservatory, you may like to consider one for Christmas, so that this year you don't have to sit Auntie Sheila in the hall because you don’t have enough space in your dining room.

Autumn Update

Do you ever wish that your conservatory felt as welcoming as your living room? Then it's time you replaced your existing conservatory roof with the stylish, innovative 'Livin' roof!

The design of this great system allows you to combine solid and glazed panels to suit your own style, letting in light whilst giving you the option of a more solid ceiling. A 'Livin' roof also provides greater thermal efficiency thanks to its great insulation properties.

Internally you can opt for a plastered vaulted ceiling or a suspended ceiling, and internal lights may be positioned either in the pelmet or hanging on the ceiling ridge. But why just stop at lights? Some people opt to install speaker systems too!

Give your conservatory an autumn update with a 'Livin' roof and the help of the Horsford team!

Pearl Service

At Horsford Window and Conservatory Company, we’re proud to have been helping to improve the homes of Norfolk residents for 30 years!

We started out in September 1992, selling windows and doors from the house of Brian Hoffman (former Managing Director) who lived in the village of Horsford, hence the company name.

From there we were able to open our first showroom and storage unit, situated on Patterson Road, Norwich. The premises consisted of a small shop with a garage at the rear, where our business continued to grow. We decided to attend markets held in Sheringham and Cromer. This proved so successful, with custom growing in the area that we decided to open our second showroom in Cromer, where we had established a great client base.

In September 2003, 11 years after starting out and with the business continuing to expand, we decided to move our Norwich office to a new, larger showroom and storage facility in Marriott Close on the City Trading Estate. It was also at this time, that current director, Gary Cooper, took over the reins.

Today we pride ourselves on our great service and quality of products, including windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries and the warm roof. We’re FENSA registered and a Which Trusted Trader and have received a wealth of lovely comments over the years from satisfied customers.

This year is our pearl anniversary but we like to think that we deliver gold standard service!

Keeping Cool

The weather always seems to be a popular topic of conversation. We grumble that it's either too cold, too hot, too wet or too dry. But at the moment there's certainly no getting away from the fact that temperatures have been soaring, making us feel somewhat sticky and uncomfortable.

So what can we do to ease the discomfort and stay well during the heatwave?

The NHS recommend such steps as having cool baths and showers and splashing yourself with cool water; drinking lots of cool drinks (but not too much alcohol), wearing loose clothing; staying out of the sun between 12 and 3; shading windows with light coloured curtains or blinds; actually closing windows when the day's at it's hottest, but opening them at cooler times.

You definitely need to head for the shade in the middle of the day, this is when a veranda is ideal. Alternatively replacing your existing glass conservatory roof with a Warm Roof (it's insulation can help keep the room cooler in summer) will provide a comfortable space to retreat. And keeping your windows in tip-top condition, with an easy to open style that suits you, will help control air flow.

Keep cool this summer!

Garden Rooms

A great way to get enjoyment from your garden all year round, whatever the weather, is to add a conservatory or orangery to your home. Not only does this provide a great place to view your garden, but you can make it a haven for plants, bringing your garden indoors.

Orangeries were originally constructed to house fruit trees, and you could still consider growing your own citrus fruits indoors today. You may need to monitor indoor temperatures depending on what you choose to grow, but lemons and kumquats are considered the most resilient. Olive trees are also good to grow in conservatories as they are evergreens that you can prune to your desired size and shape.

When it comes to flowers in your conservatory, Peace Lilies are a great choice as they are known for cleaning the air, whilst being easy to look after. Indoor Azaleas are also a good idea, adding splashes of colour including pinks, reds and purples. Whatever you choose to grow in your conservatory or orangery, we're sure you'll be able to create a very personal garden room to enjoy.

That's Livin' Alright!

Do you love your conservatory and the great living space that it provides, but feel there's still a little room for improvement? Perhaps you'd like a lighter, brighter feel? Well now that's possible with the Livinroof!

Combining the benefits of insulation and thermal efficiency (as with the popular Warm Roof) with a design of glass panels chosen by you, the Livinroof provides great style and flexibility in design.

Maximise the light in your conservatory by combining solid and glazed panels, with the option of internal lights situated in the pelmet or hanging lights on the ceiling ridge.

Whether replacing an existing roof or installing a new conservatory, the Livinroof is a great option that enables you to make the most of natural light with added thermal efficiency.
