The Innovative ‘Livinroof’

Combining the benefits of insulation and thermal efficiency (as with the popular Warm Roof) the ‘Livinroof’ is the first roofing system that allows you to incorporate solid and glazed panels to a design chosen by you.

You can maximise the light in your conservatory by combining solid and glazed panels of a number and design that best suits you, with the added option of internal lights that can be situated either in the pelmet or hanging on the ceiling ridge.

By replacing your existing conservatory roof with a ‘Livin’ roof, you’ll give it the feel of a living room, due to its more solid structure, whilst still allowing in plenty of natural light and increasing insulation. Internally you can opt for a plastered vaulted ceiling or a suspended ceiling, which can be designed to match the height of your existing rooms where possible.

Adding Style And Value

With spring not too far on the horizon, now is the time to consider which home improvements to choose that will add style, comfort, space and value to your property.

The addition of an orangery to your home not only creates additional living space, but adds an interesting style feature to your property, which ultimately adds value and selling power should you decide to move on.

One happy customer, Mr H, believes that his Horsford orangery was a big factor in securing the recent sale of his home. He felt that all potential buyers that viewed his property instantly fell in love with the orangery, which added a big ‘wow’ factor to the building. He exclaimed, “The orangery sold the house!”

Whether you’re looking to improve your home for your own use and enjoyment, or with a view to adding value and creating a more marketable property, an orangery fitted by the expert Horsford team could be just what you need.

Take a look at www.horsfordwindowandconservatory.com/orangeries.html to read more, then give us a call on 01603 666414 to discuss an orangery design for your property.

New Windows For Winter

With winter approaching are you concerned about the cost of your energy bills this year? Is your home as energy efficient as it could be? Don’t pay for heat that is literally going out of the window. This year opt to have Energy rated windows expertly installed by Horsford.

At Horsford we are pleased to offer a stylish range of ‘A’ rated windows as defined by the BFRC (British Fenestration Ratings Council) Rating Scheme. This is UK system that rates the energy efficiency of windows on a scale from ‘A’ to ‘E’, with ‘A’ being the best. It’s used to signify compliancy with building regulations when installing your replacement windows.

If you currently have single-glazed units or your windows were installed prior to April 2002, you could be experiencing significant heat loss from your home. By replacing your existing windows with ‘A’ rated double-glazed units, you could make substantial savings on your heating bills.

And of course, as with all Horsford products, our windows are made using high quality materials and are available in a range of stylish designs, so you can choose the right look for your home. You can be sure of efficient, expert installation and friendly service when you choose Horsford Windows.

Opt For An Orangery

Orangeries have become popular alternatives to conservatories in recent times, but how do the two really differ?

The main difference in the structure of an orangery is the roof, which incorporates a glazed lantern, as opposed to the entire area of the roof being glazed as with a conservatory.

Another major difference in the design is the sidewall, with orangeries offering a more substantial structure compared to the typical conservatory. An entablature (deep-moulded fascia) surrounds the perimeter of the doors and windows, and classic orangeries have traditional colonnades – columns flanking the windows and doors below the entablature, consisting of period bases and detailing.

Horsford’s bespoke orangery designs incorporate all the classic architectural elements, including roof lantern, glazing, colonnades and carefully planned proportions, to create a traditional, stylish structure to complement your existing building. However you plan to use your orangery, it will make a welcome addition to your home, adding both stylish living space and value to your property.

The construction of orangeries in this country dates back to the 17th century, when orangeries were built in the grounds of many fashionable residences, originally to house citrus trees during the winter months. However the earliest recorded orangery was built in Padua, Italy in 1545, with popularity for the structures rising with the advent of the production of clear glass in substantial quantities. These original orangeries tended to be huge buildings, not just used as plant houses, but designed to demonstrate the wealth and importance of their owners. Orangeries were even designed to contain fountains, grottos and areas to entertain guests.

Modern orangeries may be smaller structures, but they are designed to incorporate many original features and make stylish yet practical additions to the home. Providing light, airy, yet warm living spaces with aesthetic appeal, an orangery can add space, interest and value to your property, whether you are looking for an area to entertain, relax or bring your garden into your home.

At Horsford, we are pleased to offer bespoke orangeries, with a full, friendly yet professional service provided throughout the planning, construction and after-care stages.
